CROSS- CULTURAL SEMANTICS OF COLOURS IN THE UZBEK AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES

This article is dedicated to the study of the meanings of colors in the Uzbek and English languages and their intercultural differences. Colors affect culture and language not only visually, but also through various symbolic meanings. The article contrasts the primary cultural interpretations of the colours red, white, green, blue and black. For instance, green can sometimes indicate envy in English and holiness in Uzbek. The use of colour in various expressions is also examined in the essay.
