EMPOWERING GENDER EQUALITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Gender education (GE) is crucial for promoting sustainable societies and aligns with UNESCO's Sustainable Development Goals. In Kyrgyzstan, Lingua Innovative Education Project has trained educators to integrate GE and media literacy into their teaching. This approach addresses the need to combat stereotypes and promote gender equality. This article examines how gender education at Osh State University empowers students to critically analyze societal issues through inquiry-based learning (IBL) and critical thinking strategies. The cognitive, emotional, and behavioral components [1] were implemented and analyzed, assessing their impact on developing gender education in students. By utilizing cultural narratives the film “Kurmanjan-Datka”, the study advocates for integrating gender education into curricula to foster equality and social resilience in Kyrgyz society.
