Carbon monoxide has a toxic effect on the human body, causing serious health consequences, especially with prolonged or highly concentrated exposure. It is dangerous to humans because when it enters the body, it binds to the hemoglobin in the blood, preventing normal oxygen transfer. Even small concentrations of CO can cause poisoning, and at high levels, it can lead to death.
